11-20 Saturday

Saturday morning and it is pretty early to be awake. I really like the quiet atmosphere of the early morning, unfortunately I usually break that up with the sound of the coffee grinder. There is a trade-off between the sense of sound and the sense of smell. They seem to stand about equal, the  smell of coffee being ground and the peaceful solitude of early morning.

For some reason I am reminded of the story: The Phantom Tollbooth.

Perhaps it is because of the story of the musical director. He has command of all the instruments that make sound in the morning, even a way to paint the sky through music that he conducts.

11-17 It Approacheth

November 17, 2010

The wind was biting and cold this morning. When I looked up, the clouds had the back-lit snow-sky appearance. All the outdoor noises were also compressed, mainly due to the air being cold and heavy. The smells were very vegetable in origin, all the wet leaves lying around tend to start a rotting smell that is not necessarily unpleasant - it just smells like Fall.

There really is a large weather system headed our way. It will significantly cause a disruption in many people's lives (especially the poor individuals at your local Les Schwab tire store for chains or for studded tires). Fortunately it will not be so cold as to get below 30F, at least that is the forecast.

Two Months

As I write this it is now either extremely early in the morning or veryyy late at night. I was given some terrible grief bringing news today.  My friend and next door neighbor had just been to see the doctor and it was determined that his cancer was back and had spread quickly. They said he had about two months to live.

Time to get the paper. As I walk down our driveway, I feel a light mist falling and all the sounds  are muted. Everything is dripping and hanging loosely. This makes the entire yard appear to be undone.

11-10

This morning everything was still and silent. There wasn't even enough breeze to cause the few crinkly leaves left on the Birch trees to make a noise. The clouds were hanging low over Portland to the North. They had the look of a "snow sky". This is best described by far off lights being reflected

through the clouds to the point of a whole section of sky being lit up as though a huge fluorescent light was tucked up behind the clouds diffusing through the cloud layers. I've seen this type of 'sky lighting' every Winter when the snow level lowers so I'm pretty sure the special type of sky lighting is directly attached to the lowering of the snow/freezing level.

I am feeling much better than I did on Sunday/Monday. The feeling of having worked out too hard is gone. I am now left with a kind of continuous ache, in the area where surgical work was most recently completed (my kidneys). This too will heal and soon feel better. Please continue to pray for increased healing and lessened pain - Thank You!

11/9

The clouds banded the darkness above me, the clouds had definitely been ripped and torn from a larger cloud formation.
There was just a light breeze, not enough to pull the screen door out of my hand as is the case during a real storm, but enough to make a continuous noise through the trees. Very cool. The snow level is reported to be lowering to below pass levels. It looks like were are in for some pretty stormy weather coming up.
The work on my kidney in the hospital went well, it just takes a while to recover. It felt as though I had been through a very physical workout, without properly warming up before-hand. Finally, many of my muscles have decided to feel normal again.

Thursday Morning 11/4

This morning Orion and Canis Major led me down the driveway to get the newspaper,

and the question mark formation of the "Big Dipper" was over my house as I walked back.

It doesn't always look like a question mark, but it was oriented just right due to the Earth's rotation so that is what it appeared to be. Orion is mentioned in Job 38:31. It is interesting to note that what we see as "Orion" is in fact a grouping of stars that are all bound by gravitational forces. Bound together by God. A similar arrangement exists with the stars in the big dipper, also known as Ursa Major (The Big Bear- Job 38:32)

Misty Morning Two

This morning on my way down our long driveway to get the newspaper, I noticed that I could see stars if I looked almost directly overhead, even though the entire neighborhood was covered in a heavy fog. What added to the scene was the mist dripping from the leaves of the trees. The other awesome addition was the Cheshire Cat smile of the moon through the mist.

Personally, I feel pretty good today - but still I'm quite swollen. The swelling is from my lymph nodes becoming filled, but unable to transport the fluid out and away through the lymphatic system as efficiently as they could.

I have the possibility of being admitted to the hospital today for some work on my kidney's function. As of a 1/2 hour from now I am to not eat anything in preparation for possible anesthesia.
